To the Moon and Back

“I love you to the moon and back”[i] is a tender expression, but consider this:

I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. Jeremiah 31:3

His love for you reaches infinitely farther than 478,000 miles (to the moon and back). The origin of His love is untraceable, unknowable and exceeds the limitless distance of space and time. It has no origin, no beginning and no end. It is an everlasting love from before time and forever.

Day after day, He whispers, “I love you.” He keeps saying and saying it. He never grows tired of saying it and delights in doing so. He has always loved you and will always love you, no matter what.

The fire of His love never flickers or dims and can never be extinguished, even when we fail, even when we don’t love Him back. He relentlessly draws us to Himself with unfailing, unflinching, undeserving kindness.
